Matthias is currently working as development manager on Finn Church Aid’s digital transition. In this position he is leading the development of FCA’s strategy execution and program management system. Prior to his current post, Matthias worked as Head of Programme Development Unit. During that time he supported FCA’s global strategy development as well as FCA’s global program development. Before that he worked as Senior Thematic Adviser– Right to Peace for three years and supported FCA’s program work in the areas of conflict transformation, peace building and reconciliation. He focused especially on the intersection of human rights and conflict transformation as well as on the humanitarian-development nexus. Matthias has gained extensive experience in international development cooperation from Africa, Asia and the Americas. He has worked with the Crisis Management Initiative (Martti Ahtisaari Centre), where he was heading the implementation of CMI’s Africa portfolio. Before that he has worked with Plan International Finland on rights-based development cooperation and on collaborative technologies for social change. He has worked extensively with NGOs, institutional and corporate donors and has managed and assessed several international multi-stakeholder partnerships. Matthias holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Dortmund (Germany), a Minor Degree on Psychology and a one-year post-graduate Certificate from Hagen University (Germany) on peace and democracy.
